Size range of PVC Sheet
Industrial Grey PVC Sheet is commonly fabricated in three main sizes, 2000 x 1000, 2440 x 1220 and 3000 x 1500, there are larger sizes available but these are usually to special order, thicknesses range from as thin as 1mm up to a usual maximum of 50mm thick, but this again can be specially ordered from manufacturers in greater dimensions to suit exceptional requirements.
How PVC Sheet is made
PVC Production begins with the electrolysis of salt water to produce a chemical called chlorine, this is then combined with an oil derivative called ethylene and the final combination is then polymerised to form PVC which is also known as Polyvinyl Chloride.
Grades
There are three popular grades of PVC:
PVC which is unplasticized and refers to the rigid and most common grade.
PPVC which is plasticized and refers to the flexible material often seen in industrial curtain doors.
CPVC which is chlorinated and refers to the grade often used in higher temperature applications.
